With Mothers’ Day coming up this month, we want to honour all of those hard working mothers who offer up their lives. The love and nurturing they offer is endless. So lets take some time this month to reflect on this by remembering our own mothers, or those who have taken up that role.
This month we take a sneak peek into the lives of these prominent moms. Different backgrounds, generations and lifestyles, but with one key similarity; their exquisite style.
Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor was born, 27th February 1932, in London, England. She was the epitome of fashion and beauty, also known as the Queen of Hollywood, winning two Oscars and a career spanning over six decades. She was one of the greatest legends and humanitarians to come out of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Despite all the glitz, glam and traveling her children still revered her. She endeavored to make their childhood as “normal” as possible. In the public eye her stardom eclipsed her role as a mother, thus hiding them from the spotlight. It was revealed that all four her children were present at her bedside when she passed away.
One of her great passions and something she was synonymous with was jewellery. As quoted by Elizabeth Taylor herself “My mother says I didn’t open my eyes for eight days after I was born, but when I did, the first thing I saw was her engagement ring. I was hooked!” Little wonder she had one of the greatest private collections in the world. Including pieces by leading jewelers such as Boucheron, Bulgari, Cartier, Chopard, Gerard, JAR, Ruser, Schlumberger, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels, and David Webb. Her collection was sold at an astonishing combined total of $156,756,576.
Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was born, 9th January 1982, in Reading, England. She graduated from St Andrews University in 2005 with a 2:1 in History of Art. It was at St Andrew’s where she and Prince William became friends and later romantically involved. The two married at Westminster Abbey, on April 29 2011, the Duchess exuded style, elegance and poise. She is now mum to Prince George and Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Her jewellery collection is undoubtedly lavish, and it goes without saying that her engagement ring is most popular. It is a stunning oval blue sapphire surrounded by 14 diamonds. Prince William’s late mother Diana, Princess of Wales, previously wore this famous ring.
Milena Markovna Kunis was born, 14th August 1983, in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. She is an American actress, most popular for her role as Jackie Burkhart in “That 70’s Show”. Mila has received numerous awards and nominations throughout her career. Her peers have often remarked on her natural skill and acting brilliance. She recently became a mother for the first time, giving birth to a beautiful girl named, Wyatt Isabelle.
In celebration of the birth and recognition of motherhood, Mila, designed an Emerald Marina B Ring. She was quoted saying, “Carrying a child and bringing new life into the world marks the start of an incredible journey. Precious green emeralds are traditionally symbols of motherhood, wisdom, and long-lasting love” Amazingly all the proceeds from this collection will benefit the opening of Gemfields Nkana Health Centre in Zambia.

She was crowned Miss South Africa in 1994 and Miss World first runner up in that same year. She is also a television presenter and a businesswoman of note.
